Modifications
Since this is my first car and I am not making much money I haven't done too much in modifying it, but what I have done has given me the itch to keep on changing more. I think I'll play it safe with this car and not do anything drastic. It is my hope to eventually get a first generation Miata to have as a fun project car to do my messing with.
Interior Mods
I installed an Alpine CDA–9857 head unit to replace the dying kennwood head unit that came with the car. I also installed some Infinity Reference speakers all around to replace the kennwoods that I thought were on thier way out.
Exterior Mods
I haven‘t done much if anything to the outside because the car came looking great from the factory but I have added a smiley face license plate to the front and I'm working on a carbon fiber license plate frame. I have also painted the brake calipers yellow to pop out against the blue.
Proformance Mods
After the first year I wanted to add some proformance goodies to the car and the easiest thing to do was a Cold Air Intake so I got the K & N Typhoon Intake.
Next up was the OBX Racing Header, I had heard many people had it and liked it but then from other I heard it was bad quality and that it made cars sound “ricey”. It took me a while to decide if I was going to get one or not but eventually I did get one and I'm sooo glad I did. The engine is more responsive and I can also see through the engine bay! I was able to easily deal with the install because I had a very handy guide from Captain KRM P5 on the Mazda24/7 forums. Header install guide
I also have the AXR Clunk Fix Bracket installed which is supposed to take care of the rear swaybar bushings waering out prematurly and adds more rear roll stifness to the car. In practice on my car I do have a stiffer rear end while cornering, but my bushings seem to wear out the same as before unfortunatly.
